If Disneyland Was The Setting Of My Nightmares
I took some film photos of Disneyland.
I’ve always been told there’s a darkness/moodiness to my photography but half the time it’s not entirely intentional on my end.
But here we are with a roll of creepy Disneyland photos. When I decided to take some film with me I told myself to search for a way to photograph unexpectedly. The opposite of all cute and beautiful as it always is on its own. Nightmarish wasn’t the first thing I thought of but I eventually just went there lol. Let’s not showcase a place where dreams come true. Perhaps more like my own dream world where fucked up things happen and the impossible is possible (not the positive “sky’s the limit impossible” but more like “gravity in the real world doesn’t allow this shit to happen impossible”) because like Leonardo DiCaprio said to Elliot Page “It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.” So we accept it as the truth. You’re then woken up by your own whimper which in the dream world was actually a hysterical wail and when you open your eyes you’re confused as fuck by what you just saw and you thank your brain for giving you a nice little elevated heart rate wake up call followed by the desire to listen to some beautiful music to ground yourself before breakfast. Yeah I have a lot of nightmares, but I’m working on it, I promise.
The blurry ones always remind me of scenes from the past. This large one is lovely. It’s an overexposed photo of the dumbo ride.
Nothing to dark about these following photos, just nice to look at I hope.
I will say that the worm’s eye view of the hanging metal work in the Star Wars place is like what you see when you finally wake up in the desert, super dehydrated, all sunburnt, covered in dust after being kidnapped. The only sound you hear is a wind chimey noise from the wind blowing through the overhead decorations.
A creepy girl looking back at you laughing as you’re stuck in this scary ride that’s about to be the last ride you ever ride? lol Was that too far? Too “Final Destination”-like?
These photos are both overbearing therefore a nightmare. Highkey,…the whole Star Wars place is stunning. No skill needed to photograph that place at all. These plushies were not there of course but a bunch of them like this reminds me of possessed toys.
It’s a parade happening outside of the Pinocchio ride. The scene through one of the windows. It’s all whimiscal and trippy. So cool. The colors are pleasant much like the way Midsommar was shot.
This one is my absolute favorite of all time.
This is where we make the wrong turn,…..
Taking these was a nightmare lol jk. Well tbh i waited for forever for the lightbulbs to be a cool color combo and I felt like it never came and then when it finally did these people came into the scene to have a little portrait sesh. I took it with them in it anyway before I did the lightbulb close up but this whole time I also knew these photos would be blurry from a low ISO and I didn’t know if the wait was worth it in the end.
Same vibe as the Pinnochio photo. There’s some pleasant whimsical-ness to it but its night time now. This was the train thingy passing by and I slow shuttered it.
This is the last thing you see when you’re drowning in a scary Lagoon cus a creature is pulling you down.
You know what this was though, one of the little creatures they had in a water tank in one of the Star Wars stores. They animatronics go crazy. I want one.
Blurry portraits are always so beautifully creepy. I love them. I’ve never seen myself in 3rd person like this in the dream world. Is that even possible?
This one came out sick. Like a transition scene from Rob Zombie.
Beautifully spooky. I ran with the old Hollywood, drama, horror vibe. These are the opening scenes but someone’s about to get murdered or something or these are the flashback scenes to the investigation of a murder, we’re working backwards here.
Both absolutely terrifying scenes. This smiling man and a totalitarian government.
The fact that SF has actually looked like this at one point…..a dying planet. Heartbreak
